Dedicated to Fun, Friendship and Frivolity

Dear Red Hat Sisters,
Be gosh and beggarin’ those Gadabout gals really know how
to dress up in style for St. Patrick’s Day! Nancy, thank you so
much for stepping up to host our March ethnic dinner (and your
helpers, Deb K. and Jane H.). The tables looked so festive with
yummy bags of chocolate goodies in St. Patrick’s Day theme
bags. Click here for more pictures.
Our evening started out with a” real brain teaser” trivia quiz
about St. Patrick’s Day and Ireland. Our Birthday girl Kathy K.
won with the most answers right. Our waiter was the best. He
remembered us from 2 years ago and took really good care of
us. We enjoyed Irish stew, fish and chips and wonderful
Reuben sandwiches. Sandy sold $14 worth of raffle tickets for
prizes donated by Sherrie. Alena won a Red Hat lady and
Marjean was the lucky winner of a RH coffee cup.
Prizes for the Best St. Patrick’s Day Hats went to Jean Jay,
Beth and Sherrie. Alena won for “Best Dressed” She was
green from head to toe and we all loved her green sequined
vest. Very festive!
Our March birthday girl was Kathy K. and we honored her
special day with a lovely kazoo rendition of Happy Birthday. We
all enjoyed a very green birthday cake baked by QM Beth. After
the celebration, Nancy led a parade through the bar part of the
restaurant and we marched playing “When Irish Eyes are
Smiling.” We were a smash hit with the customers. We sure
made them smile and clap for us. Thanks again, Nancy! We
had a blast!
The Gadabouts met for a late lunch at Mi Mexico hosted by Sherrie Kass-Roth. We
had a delightful time just talking and catching up. Sherrie did a wonderful job
decorating the tables with golf decorations and goody bags at each place. Sherrie
made golf ball necklaces for each of us and at the end of lunch everyone received a
door prize.
As always, when we go out together in our Red Hats, we make everyone take notice.
We met the most interesting woman sitting at a table close to ours when Jane asked
her to take a group picture. Her name was Sally Boysen (known as the Chimp Lady).
Sally was the researcher at OSU who chained herself to the fence trying to stop the
removal of her chimps to another facility. She was very gracious and was interested
in what the Red Hat Society was about.
We then moved on to the newest craze hitting Gahanna, Glow in the Dark Golf (Click
here for pictures.)
Wow! What fun! You walk in the door and everything is glowing with iridescent paint.
The motif was Jungle with wonderful animals painted in bright iridescent colors on
the walls around the entire course. We divided into two groups and set off on our
golfing adventure. Okay, so none of us are ready for the WPGA, but we had a good
time trying to get those pesky balls in the holes. I think the record number of strokes
was about 15 for one hole! Everyone commented “what fun this was” and thought that
perhaps this summer that we should try the course at Magic Mountain. Thanks again,
Sherrie, for a really fun and unusual outing!
