Dear Red Hat Sisters,
Many, many thanks to Sandy Maxim and Linda Bush for hosting a lovely
dinner for eighteen Gadabouts and one guest at Hoover Grill on June 19.
Although we were not able to sit on the deck, we did have a lovely view of
the water from our tables. Click here for pictures.
Sandy and Linda started our water/fish-themed evening with a game of
“Guess how many ‘gummy worms’ in the jar.” The winners were Connie
with the correct total of 63, and Jean Jay with a total of 61. They both
received lovely prizes furnished by Sandy and Linda. QM Beth won the
booby prize of gummy worms with the lowest guess. While we were
sitting at our table decorated with cute “blow-up fish,” Sandy made the
rounds selling raffle tickets. We earned $18 from our raffle with lots of
Gadabouts winning one of the many prizes furnished by Sandy and Linda.
Everyone brought a Red Hat item or something red or purple to exchange
and as Sandy and Linda sang “Row, Row, Row Your Boat,” we passed
the items and when they stopped, we kept the item we had. Lots of fun
and there were some great gifts! Before we knew it, it was time for our
birthday celebration. Thank you, Jean Jay, for bringing the birthday cake.
Our birthday girl, Carolyn Curry, and the rest of us enjoyed our generous
slice and it was yummy!
Carolyn Curry presented our lovely Bodacious Babe to Ellen Marie in
celebration of her wonderful positive and grateful attitude during her
ongoing chemo treatments. It was so very good to have her with us
again. We sure have missed her smiling face! Congratulations, Ellen
Marie. We love you, and you are like the poem about a mighty oak tree.
