Dedicated to Fun, Friendship and Frivolity
December, 2009

Dear Red Hat Sisters,

E
ighteen Gadabouts braved the ice
and snow to help celebrate our
end of the year and the holidays
with a Mexican Fiesta.  The
Township hall was a perfect place
to meet, it had just been
remodeled and with the committee’
s crafty hands was turned into a
beautiful Mexican Cantina.

A very special thank you to Jane,
Abbi and Jenene for all their hard
work, setting up tables, decorating
and then all the clean up afterward,
whew, that was quite the job
(Thanks to those of you who stayed
to help with that also!!!!!)

After we stuffed ourselves with
tasty burritos, rice, beans, salads
and all the fixings,
Sandy
conducted our raffle, $25 was
raised for the kitty with Trish
winning the lovely throw, donated
by
Carol Beal.  Lots of other gifts
were donated and everyone
present won something (isn’t that
just like our group?). Our birthday
girls (
Marjean, Sherrie, Jill and
Nancy) were honored with gifts
and a delicious pumpkin roll
birthday cake, made by
Jane
Hartman
, YUM!!!!

Next came the drawing for the door
prizes and 6 Christmas cactus
were given out (didn’t write down
the winners).
QM Beth gave a
PowerPoint presentation titled
“Reflections” which recapped
our year in pictures.  A huge Thank
You to Jenene for adding music to
it at the last minute, you are the
best!!!!  Jane presented your QM
with a lovely Christmas gift from all
the Gadabouts, a
darling Red Hat lady in a purple
convertible, she is so cute, Thank
you so much!

Ellen Marie and Jill (and Miss
Ginger in spirit) surprised me with
a wonderful, tearful and heartfelt
thank you as I retire from my QM
duties. They presented me with a
wonderful and very generous gift of
a  certificate to the Cameron
Mitchell restaurants from all my
sister Gadabouts, this wasn’t
expected as you have all given me
more than money can buy, your
friendship, I am forever grateful for
each and everyone of you.

For our surprise entertainment and
to continue our Mexican theme, the
World Wide Mexican Dancers
performed some traditional
Mexican folk dances, including the
Mexican Hat Dance.  Our
entertainers wore beautiful
authentic costumes from Mexico,
they were very entertaining and
amazing as the oldest gentleman
was 84 years young and has been
recovering from a slight stroke, but
he was out there dancing up a
storm!  They ended their show by
having us join them on the dance
floor and taught us how to do a
dance, boy; I was puffing away by
the end.

We ended the party with a gift
exchange using the story “The
Night Before Christmas” (right and
left game) and everyone ventured
home through the snow with a
useful gift and a sweet gift.

The Gadabouts will start the New
Year without a Queen Mother, our
reorganization meeting will be held
January 15th, I believe that Jane is
going to make reservations at Max
and Erma’s on Hamilton, Rd,
Gahanna, but I am sure that more
information will be given after the
first of the year.  If I don’t get a
chance to see you before
Christmas, I would like to wish you
all a most joyous Hanukkah,
Christmas and a Happy New Year
and look forward to being just one
of the girls when we meet again
after the holidays.

Love,
QM Beth
